Q&A with Josh Davis ’94

Why did you choose to attend Texas A&M University?

My decision came down to either Texas A&M or the other school in Austin. I went to high school in San Marcos and simply decided I should go to a college that is a bit further than a half hour from home.

What did you major in at Texas A&M, and how did it shape your career?

I double majored in finance and accounting. I received a co-op internship in the accounting department at IBM in New York and decided that occupation was not for me. As a result, I directed my focus on a career in finance.

How has Texas A&M impacted you and your family?

A large component of our family’s life over the last 20 years has revolved around Aggie Football weekends, attending Texas A&M Men’s Basketball games and making as many Aggie Baseball series as possible. I have two Aggie graduates (Classes of 2024 and 2026) and my third child just wrapped up her freshman year at A&M. It would have been hard for them to choose another university considering how much time our family spends in Aggieland.

How did you first get connected with the 12th Man Foundation, and what’s kept you involved over time?

I called the ticket office in 2005 to see how I could improve my parking for football, and they connected me with Stu Starner and Travis Dabney. That started a conversation which led to a major gift and then our involvement with Champions Council.

Is there a particular moment in Aggie Athletics that really sparked your passion for supporting our student-athletes?

My wife and I are Class of 1994 which was during an incredible run of Aggie Football success. We never lost at Kyle Field during our time as students, and we left school being huge college football fans. We purchased season tickets soon after graduation.

What do you think sets Texas A&M and its supporters apart?

Aggies truly love Texas A&M and have always stepped up to support our athletics programs through thick and thin. I am constantly amazed by the dedication and loyalty 12th Man Foundation donors and season ticket holders have shown over the last 25 years.

What part of serving in this role are you most excited about?

I have been fortunate to serve on the Board of Trustees and have a front row seat during a transformational time in the college athletics landscape. The 12th Man Foundation is truly the premier fundraising organization across all college sports. Our employees come to work every day dedicated to our mission of funding scholarships, programs and facilities in support of championship athletics, and it is an honor to help them achieve that mission in any way I can.

What would you say to someone who’s looking to get more involved or give back?

We have a large network of former students, and we need their collective time, treasure and talent to continue competing for championships.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

My family and I are truly honored to be able to give back to Texas A&M and have this level of involvement with the 12th Man Foundation. I truly believe we are going to bring home a football championship in the very near future!
